Daphne du Maurier had a lifelong love of Cornwall living for years in the Fowey area. Her best-known novels, all set in Cornwall, were Jamaica Inn, Frenchman’s Creek and Rebecca with its famous opening line ‘Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again’.
