War in the Air Over The Western Front 1914-18 Postcard

Early wartime aircraft were flimsy, unreliable and used mainly for reconnaissance. By the war’s end fighter and bomber squadrons were achieving impressive results with successful pilots achieving ‘ace’ status. The Royal Air Force was formed in 1918.
